Refreshing Words from Reince Priebus

The Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus had some very direct and to the point comments in response to Harry Reid’s claim that Mitt Romney has not paid taxes in ten years. I first have to point out the hypocrisy in Reid’s comments as he himself has a net worth of $4.5 million and likely pays the same amount as Romney, while blasting the rich for not paying their “fair share.” Secondly, it’s incredibly refreshing to hear some straightforward comments about the current administration’s failure during its first term and the need for our nation to return to the values and principles that made it great. Watch the video following the link below of Priebus on This Week with George Stephanopolous and tell me what YOU think!

A Political Slant, Yes, But to Lie?!? C’mon!!

I completely understand that there are news and media organizations that are slanted a certain direction whether that be conservative or liberal, or God forbid, somewhere in the middle. Of course a true news reporting institution would present the facts and report the information with as little bias as possible. I say “as possible” because we all know how onerous of a task that would really be, but history has proven it can be done.

So I’ve been hearing in the news today a story about a bullying incident involving Republican presidential candidate – and presumed nominee – Mitt Romney while attending Cranbrook School in 1965. This story was written by Jason Horowitz and published by The Washington Post on May 10, 2012. You can read it here.

Apparently the family has come out and said the way their brother was portrayed in this incident is “factually incorrect.” The story, published on Foxnews.com, raises concerns about what news organizations are posting and why they’re really doing it.

I don’t know much about Jason Horowitz and there’s not much info about him out there on the Al Gore Internet, but I’d be willing to guess he wasn’t even close to being alive in 1965, nor was John Lauber, the student at the receiving end of Romney’s bullying, a blip on his radar in 2004, the year Lauber died. Clearly Horowitz did not get any information from Lauber and it seems a great deal of it came from those involved in the incident, including an “unidentified student.” So the question is, why would you misrepresent information about an individual in your story?

The family doesn’t go into detail as to how he was misrepresented, but there is clearly a political slant here; the family sees it that way. Most of those interviewed for the story have a Democratic political stance. And does anybody find it odd that this story came out just days after Obama announced his support for gay marriage?

I really don’t mind news organizations having a political stance – I think they should try not to – but if you do, atleast I know where you stand. The thing that bothers me is when you publish a lengthy 5-page story and those with a close connection to the subject of your story basically say that you lied.

Oh and by the way – in case any of you forgot – people are still losing their jobs, homes are being foreclosed on, a soldier died in Afghanistan today, a child (white or black) was murdered today, the national debt is nearing $16 Trillion, Ocuupy Wall Street is causing disorder in the streets, divorce rates are at record highs, women are getting pregnant out of wedlock, children are living in broken homes, Christianity is under attack, our Constitution is being threatened and Muslims are overrunning our country…

….but please, tell me about Romney’s bullying from high school almost 50 years ago.

So which is it, Mitt?

I’ve never been big on Romney.  Mainly because nothing has ever convinced me that he’s actually a conservative.  He may find the right terms on occasion, but what I know about him is not what I consider to be a conservative.  I’ve stated early on in this blog’s entries that I think Santorum is the best candidate out there . . . not perfect, just the best, most principled guy in the race.  Let it be known, whoever ends up going against Obama has my support.   I can’t state this enough:  America does not survive another 4 years of Obama and the crowd he surrounds himself with.  However, my uncertainty and lack of trust towards Romney just got a little more uncomfortable.  Watch this, from 2002 . . .
