The New DOJ Hiring Memo
Posted by Unapologetically Right in Current Events, Politics, Uncategorized on August 22, 2012
I happened to run across this story on The Blaze today and I cannot let it go without some comment or alert. It seems that, in 2010, one of the many executive orders signed by “his excellency” (I say that in quotation marks with grotesque sarcasm, only to play along with his egocentrism) was EO # 13548 which required “federal agencies become model employers of Americans with disabilities . . .”
That’s fine, I guess.
Recently, however, the Civil Rights Division of Eric Holder’s DOJ has released their policy on hiring such folks with disabilities. Let me preface by stating that I fully understand that disabilities do not lessen a person’s worth and such individuals need a way to make a living and survive just like anyone else. So, I mean no disrespect here. Although, I would project the notion that of all places, isn’t the DOJ, or any higher office that deals with national security, and similar things, justified in being more particular about hiring “sharp” or exceptionally bright folks? Here’s why I ask such a question . . .
The memo lists some of the “targeted disabilities,” many of which are physical and, while I would question how they might get the job done, or communicate, I really don’t care about the disabilities. My point of concern is that, following the more physical disabilities, we see the following:
- severe intellectual disability
- psychiatric disability
- other current severe physical, intellectual or mental conditions
While, in some ways, I find slight relief that we have some form of explanation of the sheer idiocy coming out of that place, I am more disturbed. Take, for example, the Black Panthers voting intimidation case that Holder ignored/dismissed. This was in the Civil Rights Division. With such cases being dealt with, do we need/want anyone with “severe intellectual disabilities” or “psychiatric disabilities” having any part of that? Now, to what capacity such “severe physical, intellectual or mental conditions” find themselves in the DOJ, I don’t know, but this seems very odd and scary to me. Just thought I’d make you aware.
